Magicland Abuja

Magicland genuinely feels like one of my personality traits at this point.

Somewhere along the line, it stopped being just a place I visit and started becoming part of how I show up in the world. The kind of place that makes me feel like I never really grew out of the part of me that loves laughter, movement, and the kind of joy that comes from doing something slightly reckless just because it feels fun.

I came specifically for the new ride this time, and somehow still ended up feeling like a child the entire evening.

That is the thing about Magicland. You can walk in with a clear plan, a specific goal, and a very adult mindset, and within ten minutes, you are back in the energy of someone who just wants to laugh, spin, and forget everything else for a while. It does not ask you to be serious. It does not ask you to be careful. It just asks you to be present.

At first, I was nervous because I genuinely had no idea what to expect. While waiting for enough people to join the ride, I kept mentally preparing myself for the worst.

There is something about new rides that makes your brain do a quick check. You wonder if it will be too fast. Too high. Too intense. Too much. You start imagining the worst version of it, and then you convince yourself that you are ready for it, even when you are not.

I was doing exactly that. I was preparing for the worst. I was mentally bracing myself. I was thinking about how I would survive it. And then the ride finally started and I ended up loving every second of it.

It was nothing like I imagined.

That is often the best kind of surprise. When something is better than you expected. When your fear was bigger than the reality. When you realise you were worried about something that was actually just fun.

And of course, after that, I immediately went back to my forever favourite, the Pirate Ship.

The Pirate Ship and My Built Immunity

Now, the funny thing is that the Pirate Ship no longer scares me the way it used to. Apparently I have built immunity.

There is something about doing the same ride over and over that changes how you feel about it. At first, it is terrifying. At first, it is unpredictable. At first, you do not know what to expect. But then, after a few times, you start to understand the rhythm. You start to know when it will go high. When it will go low. When it will swing hardest.

And suddenly, the fear is gone.

But somehow it still manages to make my stomach flip every single time, and honestly, that is part of the fun.

Even when you are not scared, the ride still does its job. It still moves. It still swings. It still flips your stomach. And that feeling is still there. It is just different now. It is not fear. It is excitement. It is the kind of excitement that comes from knowing you are safe, but still feeling the movement.

That is the beauty of the Pirate Ship. It is classic. It is reliable. It is fun. And it is the kind of ride that you can come back to again and again, even when you are not scared anymore.

Magicland at Night

One thing I will always say about Magicland is that it becomes unbelievably beautiful at night.

There is a difference between seeing the park in the day and seeing it at night. In the day, you see the rides. You see the colours. You see the structure. At night, you see the feeling.

The lights, the music, the laughter from different corners, the sound of rides moving, everything creates this nostalgic atmosphere that makes ordinary evenings feel memorable.

The lights make everything glow. The music makes everything feel alive. The laughter makes everything feel human. The sound of the rides makes everything feel like movement. And when all of that comes together, you get an atmosphere that feels like it belongs to a different time.

It feels like childhood. It feels like joy. It feels like memory.

It is impossible for me to come here and not feel lighter emotionally.

That is the thing about Magicland. It does not just give you a ride. It gives you a feeling. It gives you a moment where you can forget everything else. Where you can stop thinking. Where you can just be.

And that is rare.

Have I Conquered Everything?

At this point, I am beginning to think I have conquered almost every ride in the park, which honestly feels concerning.

There is something slightly worrying about feeling like you have done everything. Like there is nothing left to try. Like you have reached the end of the list. But then, Magicland always surprises me. There is always something new. Always something different. Always something that makes me feel like I am back at the beginning again.

So tell me: which ride are you absolutely never entering again?

I am curious. Because I feel like everyone has that one ride. The one they do not want to do again. The one that scared them too much. The one that flipped their stomach too hard. The one that they decided is not worth the fear.

What is yours?
